Our History

In an effort to provide potential real estate customers with a reliable service, Colbert Coldwell founded a real estate organization in 1906. His inspiration grew from families affected by the San Francisco earthquake who were looking for new living spaces and comfortable homes. While many agents used this opportunity to acquire property from affected home owners at incredibly low costs and later resell these at steep prices, Coldwell saw this as an opportunity to establish a credible, trustworthy organization that cared for customers´ needs and well-being. In 1914, Benjamin Arthur Banker, impressed with Colbert Coldwell's integrity and unique initiative, became a full partner in his efforts. Through time, Coldwell and Banker created an emporium built on tradition, integrity, unparalleled service and guaranteed customer satisfaction.

Today, 98 years later, Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corporation, now a subsidiary of Cendant Corporation (NYSE: CD), has more than 3,500 independently owned and operated residential and commercial real estate offices, with over 106,000 Sales Associates around the globe.
